NBC5DFW Feature on Foster Care Alumni Program

As an academic coordinator for TWU's FAST Academy Program, I welcomed NBC5 (DFW) into my classroom in June 2025. The written composition course I teach for this accelerated learning program -- one I also co-designed with other TWU staff and faculty in 2024 -- to help students with lived experience in the foster care system get a head start on their post-secondary learning and to realize that they do belong in college. Creating and carrying forward this program continues to be one of the most personally and professionally significant projects of my career.
